The Global Cultural Relations Programme (GCRP) is our flagship training programme. It aims to connect cultural professionals from all over the globe. And not only. The main idea of GCRP is to develop participants’ skills and support them to engage in international cultural relations through tailored peer-to-peer learning, cross-cultural collaboration and global networking.

Does it always take place in the same location? Never. The programme already took place (at the time as GCLP) in Valletta (Malta) in 2016, Athens (Greece) in 2017, Amsterdam (The Netherlands) in 2018 and Brussels (Belgium) in 2019. Because of the pandemic of Covid-19, it was paused in 2020 and held as the first online edition (GCRP) in 2021. This year participants were happy to be back in person, meeting face-to-face in Istanbul (Turkey).

Building connections with the same people from the same countries? By no means. GCRP is no obvious programme.

In the 2021 online edition, 59 participants from 49 nationalities were selected from numerous sectors including performing arts, music, audio visual, cultural heritage and visual arts. The distance between the participants was shortened and the recipe for cultural diversity was maintained for the following edition. In  2022 nothing less than 38 participants from 38 nationalities were happy to gather in person, meeting face-to-face in Istanbul (Turkey). In both editions brilliant minds networked, shared experiences and ideas, buit their skills in international cultural relations and had the opportunity to develop collaborative international cultural projects.

Was that the end? Far form that!

The Global Cultural Relations Programme (GCRP) Reunion took place in Brussels (Belgium) from 21 – 25 November 2022. The international cultural relations stars aligned and the participants of the 2021 online edition met their peers from the Istanbul 2022 edition. Together, they were a group of 74 participants from 58 nationalities eager to exchange ideas, impact the world and collaborate with fellow professionals working in cultural sectors from all over the globe.
