Jordan Stitch: Wrapping up a journey of creativity and connection in fashion
The Jordan-Stitch: Empowering Women in Fashion programme has come to a close, and we’re looking back on a transformative experience filled with learning, creativity, and collaboration. Bringing together 20 Jordanian women fashion designers, the programme was designed to provide essential tools, fresh perspectives, and a supportive network to elevate their brands in a competitive market.
The event kicked off with welcoming words from Sana Ouchtati (Team Leader, Cultural Relations Platform), Angela Martini (Deputy Head, EU Delegation to Jordan), and the celebrated illustrator and designer, Shamekh Bluwi. Their opening set the tone for the sessions that followed, bridging theory with real-world strategies and inspiration. Early workshops explored the nuances of fashion public relations (PR) tactics and the importance of building a strong brand identity across Markets. With Clair Seffeen (The Design Narratives, Story Cairo) guiding discussions on aligning creative vision with business acumen, and Ingy Yousri Ismail (Flare PR) diving into the ins and outs of PR in the fashion industry, participants gained actionable insights on promoting and positioning their brands effectively.
The programme then delved into identifying target markets, refining product costing, and exploring strategies for sales, distribution, and wholesale. Key sessions highlighted the importance of staying true to a brand’s DNA while exploring new avenues for growth, inspiring participants to refine and amplify their unique signatures for impact in diverse markets. Martine Jarlgaard’s (Martine Jarlgaard London) session on sustainability, social impact, and transparency in fashion added depth, challenging designers to think critically about embedding values of sustainability and ethical practices within their brands.
The closing evening was a true celebration of creativity and craftsmanship. Each designer showcased a unique piece exhibition-style, giving everyone a chance to see the diversity and artistry of Jordanian design up close. We were honored to have the EU Ambassador, H.E. Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, join us, adding a special note to an evening filled with camaraderie, shared reflections, and pride in all that had been accomplished.
Looking back, this programme was not just about acquiring new skills but also about connecting with a community of like-minded designers and mentors. We’re grateful to every participant, speaker, and partner who made this journey possible. Here’s to the future of Jordanian fashion, shaped by creativity, vision, and the drive to make an impact.
Stay tuned for more to come, and thank you for following us on this journey!
