Maya Esslemont
Maya Esslemont is the director and founder of After Exploitation, a non-profit organisation uncovering hidden data on modern slavery. Through their investigations they have documented unjust policies, including the UK Government’s practice of detaining trafficking victims, refusing to provide survivors with compensation, and the imprisonment of victims for crimes they were compelled to commit because of their exploitation. As a collaborator on the Global Reporting Centre-funded ‘Objective’ project, they documented the experiences of trafficking survivors through collaboratively curated personal objects and testimony.
