Kato van der Speeten

Kato Van der Speeten (°1997) is a Belgian film programmer with a special interest in the relationship between justice and film. She obtained a master’s degree in law from KU Leuven (Belgium), specializing in international and human rights law, and an LL.M. in Asian Law from Waseda University (Japan). After working as a teaching assistant and researcher at KU Leuven’s Law Faculty, she transitioned to the film industry, and worked at various film festivals in Amsterdam, such as Movies that Matter, a human rights-focused film festival, and Cinekid. Currently, Kato is a ‘Programmer of the Future’ at Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam, developing a film program that examines justice through a feminist lens.
