Hala Shankhour

Hala Shankhour is Director of Archaeology and Preservation at the Department of Antiquities and Museums in Ras al Khaimah, where she leads the conservation of Al Jazeera Al Hamra Heritage Village, the last remaining pearling village in UAE. Before moving to UAE, she worked for years in Syria on conservation of various sites and World Heritage Sites, actively participating in efforts to preserve and document cultural heritage during the Syrian war. Hala holds a Bachelor’s in Architectural Engineering and a Master’s in Restoration, Conservation and Rehabilitation of Historical, Archaeological and Natural Sites. Hala has participated in various ICCROM international training courses, enhancing her expertise and expanding her global network.
