Abner O. Lawangen

Abner Lawangen is a seasoned public servant, with two decades of experience in disaster risk reduction and preparedness and resilience. He is a member of the Kankanaey tribe in the province of Benguet, Philippines. He has robust experience working with indigenous cultural communities on climate and disaster resilience. Among his works are the organization and capacitation of indigenous youths and children for disaster resilience and community-based disaster preparedness advocates, and ecosystem-based disaster risk reduction (Eco-DRR). He is currently the Chief of the Benguet Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. His research interest is culture in disaster resilience.
