Sarah Alharthey

Sarah Alharthey is a pioneering Saudi young professional in the clean energy sector and a climate advocate committed to a career in climate action. She works as an Executive Business Development Manager at ACWA Power, successfully developing project-financed sustainable utilities infrastructure projects including solar energy, multiutilities and green hydrogen contributing to abating more than 3 million tons of CO2 per year for 25 years. Sarah was selected as an Emerging Climate Leaders Fellow by Yale University in 2022 and named Saudi Arabia’s Climate Ambassador in 2021 by the World Bank Y2Y initiative. Sarah holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Master’s degree in Renewable Energy Engineering. She is one of the first female engineers in Saudi Arabia. Sarah has published knowledge products and co-authored several position papers with renowned entities bringing nuanced perspectives and a more inclusive viewpoint on clean energy and climate and presenting it in platforms like the UN High Level Meetings and COP25/26/27 and uses these spaces to engage in action.
