Jean Monnet Programme

The Jean Monnet programme aims to promote excellence in teaching and research in the field of European Union  (EU) studies. It also supports the dialogue between academics and policy-makers, in particular with the aim of enhancing governance of EU policies.

EU studies encompass the study of Europe in its entirety with particular emphasis on the European integration process in both its internal and external aspects. The discipline also covers the role of the EU in a globalised world and in promoting an active European citizenship and dialogue between people and cultures.

The Jean Monnet programme is part of Erasmus+ and funded by the EU (DG EAC).

Project CIRCEA – Culture in International Relations: Constructing European External Action is a 3-year EU-funded project implemented by the University of Siena from 2019-2023. The main objective of the CIRCEA project is to strengthen the understanding of the role of the cultural dimensions of the EU’s external action.

Project CREW – Cultural relations at Work was an EU-funded project from 2016-2019 coordinated by the University of Siena in partnership with EUNIC Global. It aims to foster discussion and reflection on EU’s international cultural relations, through a set of systematic cross fertilization efforts between policy-makers, practitioners and academics. Visit CREW website!
