Cultural and Creative Industries Supporting Activities in Sub-Saharan Africa
In the framework of ifa’s Research Programme “Culture and Foreign Policy, Pedro Affonso Ivo Franco and Kimani Njogu developed a study on cultural and creative industries (CCIs) in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The report offers an inventory of CCIs activities financed or implemented by the European Union and European countries’ cultural institutions in Sub-Saharan Africa. It analyses these multilateral programmes and projects in place in the region and explores how they are working and their practical impacts.
Finally, the study provides a set of recommendations that emerged from the research and advocates for more sustainable projects with a stronger focus on local ownership.
