Laura Barbi

Laura Barbi, is a curator, architect and graphic designer whose research areas include contemporary arts, cultural identity and cultural diplomacy. Laura has curated and organized exhibitions and cultural events in the UK and Brazil. Between 2008 and 2015 she worked as a project manager at the Embassy of Brazil in London and was responsible for devising and delivering the core programme for Gallery 32 and Sala Brasil – both maintained by the Embassy as a permanent platform for Brazilian culture in the UK. Laura holds a Master’s Degree in Graphic Design (University of Arts London) and is currently enrolled at Visual Arts PhD programme (EAU-UFMG). In May 2018, she launched GAL: a contemporary art and research project aimed at providing new contexts for fruition, participation, creation, criticism and consumption of art that occupies empty spaces within cities with free temporary exhibitions and happenings. Laura lives and works between Brazil and the UK.
