Sooyoung Leam, GCLP 2017

Sooyoung Leam was a participant in the 2017 edition of the Global Cultural Leadership Programme.

Sooyoung Leam is a PhD candidate at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London. Her research focuses on sculptural experiments in Korea through the works and writings of Lee Seung-taek under the supervision of Sarah Wilson. Before commencing on her PhD she has worked as a curator and a researcher at various international projects, including the first edition of the Shanghai Project co-directed by Yongwoo Lee and Hans Ulrich Obrist. Apart from organising exhibitions in China, Seoul and London, she also lectures and presents her research on contemporary Korean art at conferences and institutions around the world. She holds her BA in History of Art from Cambridge University and MA from the Courtauld Institute of Art. She has contributed to a number of important catalogues and journals including Art Monthly, Critique d’art. Sooyoung was one of the invited curators for the Gwangju Biennale International Curator Course.
