Mareike Guddati, GCLP 2017

Mareike Guddati was a aparticipant in the 2017 edition of the Global Cultural Leadership Programme.

Mareike Guddati currently works with Diakonie Düsseldorf as a social and legal advisor for refugees living in the municipal housings of Düsseldorf. Mareike helps to promote the independence of the migrants in Düsseldorf by connecting them with locals, NGOs, and other institutions in the city. In addition to this, training of volunteers in legal and cultural aspects, and networking with other stakeholders is an essential part of this work in facilitating integration and understanding between cultures. Mareike has a master’s degree in European and international law from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Luxembourg, Luxembourg.

“Meeting inspiring young cultural leaders from all over the world was an enriching experience which left me with new ideas and perspectives I am trying to integrate into my daily work. The work sessions helped me to self-reflect on my (leadership) skills and – coming from the social sector – I learned a lot about the cultural business and possibilites of cooperation. Thanks to the experts and all the participants, the programme was a week full of learning, sharing, and growing.”
