Ilanna Saltzman, GCLP 2016
Ilanna Saltzman was a participant of the 1st Edition of the Global Cultural Leadership Programme.
Ilanna Saltzman is a New York City-based theater practitioner and producer who specializes in physical theater and devised work. She is the Outreach Director at NYC non-profit Urban Stages, where she manages and directs free arts programs in libraries, schools, senior centers, literacy centers, and summer camps across New York City. She has also worked extensively with the NGO Bond Street Theatre. With them, she has created original socially engaging plays, taught theater workshops, and performed in Russia, Azerbaijan, Guatemala, India, Nepal, and NYC. Ilanna has created numerous plays for young audiences in both Spanish and English, and has been seen in New York City as a stilt walker, in Cuban salsa performances, solo puppet shows, and everything in between.
“The GCLP allowed me a unique perspective into the vast similarities between cultural practitioners from around the globe. It was incredible to be surrounded by minds from around the world, to hear about their processes and challenges, and to brainstorm solutions and collaborations together. I was so inspired by my colleagues’ work and leadership skills, and I am excited to continue the conversations and collaborations we began in Malta.”
In order to introduce themselves and their organisations, the participants prepared a poster presenting 4 elements – Me, My organisation, My Project and My Dream.
