Flora Rhee, GCLP 2016

Flora Rhee was a participant of the 1st edition of the Global Cultural Leadership Programme.
Flora Rhee is a Seoul-based translator, editor and book publisher. After nine years of work at the Korea Foundation, she joined Le monde diplomatique Korea as a translator and works as contributing editor for the Korean edition of Manière de voir. She recently translated Manuel d’économie critique (2016) in Korean. In 2019, she set out to launch her own business and founded an independent publishing company Pure Aura Books, out of a desire to showcase un-highlighted sides of the world that other media ignore. Born in Seoul and upbrought in Amman and Monte Carlo, her core interests lie at transnationalism and international trust building, and she prides herself on bringing her global sensitivity in bridging the world. Rhee holds a first degree in French literature from Yonsei University and master degrees in translation and development policy, respectively from Ewha University and KDI School of Public Policy and Management.

“The diversity that the ‘Global Cultural Leadership Programme’ offered was unique for the fact that we were able to listen to experiences and problems that are at the same time different and so common. The program helped me to shed light on many cultural and leadership issues critical to our common future, that we needed to think about to continue to move forward. I am hopeful that our group helped to set the right standard for those who will follow us in this new initiative”

In order to introduce themselves and their organisations, the participants prepared a poster presenting 4 elements – Me, My organisation, My Project and My Dream.
