Amy Walker, GCLP 2016

Amy Walker was a participant of the 1st Edition of the Global Cultural Leadership Programme.

Amy is an arts consultant and manager specialising in supporting emerging artists and managing international collaborative initiatives. Her experience is in developing and delivering arts projects; strategic business planning; fundraising and financial management for cultural organisations in UK and around the world. She is currently working as a consultant providing strategic fundraising and development support for two organisations: New Contemporaries, a leading organisation supporting emerging artists across UK; and Open School East, an alternative space for artistic learning in Margate; alongside working as an Associate Consultant for international creative consultancy, BOP. Previous positions include Executive Director of Highlight Arts and Deputy Director of Gasworks & Triangle Network, an international grass-roots arts network. She has recently co-authored a chapter on managing cultural exchange between UK and India for Palgrave Macmillan’s Sociology and the Arts series, with fellow GCLP 2016 participant Ruhi Jhunjhunwala. She is also a Trustee of the Poetry Archive.

“Having the opportunity to consider ‘cultural leadership’ with such an interesting, truly international and, most importantly, generous group of individuals was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The programme was a good mix of theory and practical exercises which taught me a lot, however I feel that the real legacy will be all the connections and contacts that I have made. Thank you GCLP!”

In order to introduce themselves and their organisations, the participants prepared a poster presenting 4 elements – Me, My organisation, My Project and My Dream.
